Chocolate Raspberry Wonton Parcels

Chocolate Raspberry Wonton Parcels

Yesterday I played with my food. With Valentine's Day coming up and a bunch of wonton wrappers coming up to their expiration date, I thought why not come up with my own Chinese New Year/Valentine's Day treats? What a payoff! These are easy and baked, not fried so I indulged in more than one.

I made many different combinations of fillings, this ended up being my favourite. A little Nutella on the bottom, topped with a layer of thin chocolate pieces and one or two raspberries (if I can fit them in) on top. Water the edges of the wonton and top with another one:

Try to get as much air out as possible. If you wanted to get fancy you could use a circle cutter and make these look like raviolis.

Put them on a parchment or Silpat-lined baking tray and brush with some melted butter. Put them in a 350 oven for 8-10 minutes until they are golden brown:

The coolest part about what they look like coming out is the because the raspberry is a bit flattened, it kind of looks like a heart:

So there is a touch of romance to my blog in honour of Valentine's Day, still giving it a little Asian-flare. The perfume of the jammy raspberry mixed with the deep dark chocolate and a hint of hazelnuts was divine! My husband who hates food that falls apart was pleasantly surprised when this crunchy treat kept its shape as it cracked under his teeth.

Dusted with icing sugar these easy chocolate raspberry bites are transformed into a beautiful dessert for someone you care about. I hope everyone has a beautiful and delicious Valentine's Day.

Now my mother always told me NOT to play with my food, but if this is the result, then she was wrong.
